A new swimming club in Balfron called ‘Balfron Barracudas’ has been established with support from Active Stirling.
The club will officially start up in January with training taking place on Monday evenings between 7.45pm – 8.45pm and Saturday mornings between 11.30am – 1.30pm.
The Club has been introduced as way to help children who have developed through Active Stirling Learn to swim programme on to swimming regularly in a club environment with the opportunity to swim competitively.
Trials were held in the autumn and there was a great turn out and as a result Balfron Barracudas currently has around 40 members. Last week an induction evening took place for all parents and swimmers who were invited along to meet the committee and club coaches.
Kirsty McNicol (Balfron Sports Development Officer) said: Balfron Barracudas has proven to be a hit in the local area with the young people. With a strong club structure and committee in place I believe this will be a fantastic opportunity for children to develop their swimming”
Bradley Hay (Swimming Development Officer) added: Starting a new club in the Balfron cluster will provide a clear pathway from learn to swim into a club environment for swimmers in the Balfron area and will give them the opportunity to learn new skills and further their swimming ability”
